Who doesn’t love tacos? I certainly do. We have tacos for dinner all. the. time. I don’t go out for them too often because I usually feel like the vegan taco option is such a simple one that I can just make it at home. Of course, I’m always down for Edgar’s! Those tacos are incredible.
It’s Memorial Day, and people are probably thinking more about iced tea than hot tea, but there’s a place in my life for hot herbal teas, or tisanes, all year round. To me, they provide yet another healing opportunity for the body, and I never turn that down! I wanted to share some of the teas that have been helpful for me recently. Maybe you’ll find a new favorite for yourself!
I can’t recall when I first heard of Victoria Moran, but I remember that her work really caught my attention when she started her Main Street Vegan Academy. I had been looking for a new path, a chance to start fresh, after healing from the worst stages of my chronic illness. I was looking at pursuing life as a health professional, but that was a bigger commitment (both in terms of energy and finance) than I was able to give at the time. The more I looked into the Academy, the more I was completely convinced that it was the perfect fit for me. It’s a 5-day intensive, and while it’s a monetary investment, it’s far more affordable than a masters degree. Most importantly, her style jibed with me. Her faculty was impressive and inspirational. The value was immeasurable in monetary terms.
After I was accepted, I read as many books of hers as I could to familiarize myself with her message. One of them, Main Street Vegan, was part of the curriculum, but another three of them I eagerly devoured for purely my own pleasure. Continue reading
There were a handful of blogs that I discovered when I first began healing holistically. One of my main inspirations was Kimberly Snyder. I’ve always loved how accessible she makes healthy living, and most importantly she’s walking the walk. She’s always come across to me as very balanced inside and out, and she literally glows in every picture and video I see her in.
I’ve read both of her books before, and recently got really excited that she’s come out with a new one. I’m most excited because in the new book, she touches on beauty principles like meditation, the body’s second brain (in the gut!), positive thoughts, affirmations, and things other than what we eat that really affect health and wellbeing. The Beauty Detox Power is my kind of book!
There are apparently many other Kimberly Snyder fans in Pittsburgh because I’ve been on the wait list for this book at my library. While I’m waiting, I thought I’d take out one of her older books and make some of the recipes in it. Continue reading
So, it’s my third vegan cheese review in as many weeks. I feel like I’m turning into a blog about vegan cheeses! It’s pretty funny, you’d think my fridge is stocked to the brim with vegan cheese. But no, I rarely have them in my fridge, so enjoy the reviews while they’re here! When I saw Heidi Ho on the shelves at Whole Foods, I scooped up a tub without even thinking about it. I’ve heard people talking about their nacho chia cheese for a while now, and in general, I really like the ingredients that they use in their products. Potatoes, chia, blueberries, turnips. Wholesome.
